CALL FOR PANELS AND PAPERS

: | iccs@ui.ac.id | |
Announcement of accepted papers | : | 1 April 2015 |
The general theme of the 2015 conference is “Undercurrents: Unearthing Hidden Social and Discursive Practices”. Contemporary scholarship in spatial practice has rendered visible the invisible: the subaltern, everyday life, popular culture and social movements. It has also scrutinized the East-West divide and afforded an additional ?understanding of Asia as method, no longer a mere ?noun referring to a given geographical region. However, there are still many social and cultural forces as well as praxis, that shaped everyday reality in Asia, which remain under-theorized and unexplored. This conference aims at bringing more of these undercurrents into the surface, examining their respective capacities to intersect with, subvert, or mould the formal structures.
Topics include, but not limited to:
- Denaturalizing ecological disaster: architecture and the anthropocene
- Para-sites: Alternative space and knowledge production
- ‘Free man’, mafia and underground economy
- Uncharted border, illegitimate transnationality, diaspora
- Challenging urbanity: rural, underclass, urban guerillas
- Theorizing emergent movements: arts, youth, social media, politics
- Surviving political violence: memory, narratives, performativity
- Performing sexuality: communities and practices
Requirements for online paper submissions:
- Paper title,
- Abstract, max. 100 words with topics preference included
